MASSIVE PROTESTS |
Wednesday, March 21, 2007 |
Massive protests were staged throughout the world against terrorist/insurgents in Iraq who used two children to get close to a target, blowing the two children up. While a common practice of Middle-eastern terrorist, it was nonetheless distasteful enough to mobililize hundreds of thou...wait, hundre..uh...tens...anyone?

There have been no protests against... Labels: anti-war protestors, terrorists |

As the terrorist are stateless maniacs accountable to no one, it wouldn't do any good to mount a protest. In the USA we protest, in theory, because it will send a message to our government.

Good point, Smorg. I was being a bit reactionary. It just seems to me that the terrorists get nothing but support from the leftist anti-war crowd--little criticism, even endorsement at times...
Great to hear from you, btw, hope you have been well!

I don't buy the whole "the left supports the terrorists" thing. "You're with us or you're against us" just doesn't make sense to me. I don't think we need to run our country that way. In fact, it's that very mentality that leads to fascism.

I just dont see a lot of criticism coming when it should. Smorg, I read a ton of blogs and left leaning sites and they are strangely quiet when things like this happen, but scream at the top of their lungs when some American soldier is found shooting an "unarmed insurgent".
Its not that I think we shouldn't criticize the American soldier, but so often we think in linear fashion and dismiss the complexities of what happen around us.
But since you brought up fascism, that is one of the things that often leaves me scratching my head. There seems to be widespread support of fascists like Chavez and Castro in the American left. Why does this seem to be the case?
(Keep in mind I'm painting with a broad brush--I know there are many exceptions)

I don't know any leftists who support Castro or Chavez, and I know a lot of leftists (being a musician living in Boston).
In fact, I know several musicians who go to Cuba on a regular basis to learn afro-cuban music, and they are always apalled by the way Castro runs the place. Almost everyone they talk to is as well.

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".
Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.
Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.
In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
