WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO CHICKEN LITTLE? |
Tuesday, December 12, 2006 |
THE DEBATE SURROUNDING GLOBAL WARMING IS OFTEN UNSUPPORTED BY SOUND SCIENCE. BUT THIS WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE POLITICAL OPPORTUNIST, I-FOUND-A-TOPIC-THAT-PUTS-ME-IN-THE-NEWS-EVERY-DAY AL GORES OR THE EMOTIONAL, RUN-THE-SKY-IS-FALLING LEONARDO DICAPRIOS
Telegraph | News | UN downgrades man's impact on the climate: "Mankind has had less effect on global warming than previously supposed, a United Nations report on climate change will claim next year." |

WSC,
I discovered the Greenland Ice Core studies in the early 80s and have followed a lot of the alarmism over the last three decades. As you and I both know, most of the debate is politically fueled. That's not to say that there aren't points of consideration within the study of climate, but I don't know that all of the study one way or the other is sound.
If we can get back to something scientific, then we can propose realistic fixes and solutions, but as it is we have a government that is so ignorant and politically correct on the matter that they jump at every chicken little and propose. For an extreme example go to: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4534017/
However, this isn't that far off from a lot of the decision making that goes on in government.
Also, if you can overlook this bi-partisan report from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works that was headed by a REPUBLICAN :) it is quite informative.

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".
Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.
Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.
In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
