The News Snipet plans to send a donation. ABC News: Whites Only Scholarship Creates Outrage: "BOSTON, Nov. 22, 2006 — Joe Mroszczyk, president of the College Republicans at Boston University, admits he set out to stir up a hornet's nest when he came up with the idea of offering a whites-only scholarship at the school. But he got a little more buzz than he bargained for."

As Ive stated before, I can sympathize with some of these actions and policies- affirmative action, for example. But its not the answer, has not, and will not solve anything. And I dont understand why BU is all the news, this isnt the first time it has happened.

For these "minority" (I hate that term) scholarships, I mean, at least come up with a different name for the scholarship and dont make it so blatantly racist, like Hispanic Scholarship. And I dont mean racist in the "hateful, bigoted, evil" sense racism is defined as being. Because I know theyre not being hateful, they are trying to help, they really are. But I mean racist in terms of ignorance and not understanding how, as Morgan Freeman stated back in February (regarding Black History Month), "the only way to end racism is to stop talking about it." Of course I dont agree with the BU White Scholarship- I dont agree with any of those- but theyre making people think, arent they?

Sure, prejudice and hate will always be around, but what Freeman was saying, and he was absolutely right, stop bringing race into everything about everything today.

Sure, our society is flawed and there are many problems with it. But a defeatist attitude solves nothing, and it only leads to animosity among people. Fight back, and say you overcame adversity and made it. Anyone can do it, they really can. Is it hard? Yes, it sure is. But a little discipline and hard work will get you by. It starts by having a small job, keeping it, saving money, you can get a degree at a local community college and still end up fine.

I have plenty of Black and Hispanic friends who have come from working class backgrounds, who have worked hard, earned good jobs and have made it. They didnt need these scholarships, they didnt need racist hiring policies. And knowing these friends well- they would be the first ones to tell you that.

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".

Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.

Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.

In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
