OK, TIME TO FORGIVE MARK FOLEY
Wednesday, October 04, 2006
Mark Foley's lawyer just announced that Mark is gay and was molested as a child. That makes everything he did ok, doesn't it?

    No.

"I can’t give solutions to all of life’s problems,
    doubts, or fears,
But I can listen to you, and together we can seek
    answers.

I can’t change your past with all it’s heartache and
pain, nor the future with it’s untold stories,
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can’t keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

    Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happinesses are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter and joy.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to
    judge;
I can only support you, encourage you, and help you
    when you ask.

I can’t give you boundaries which I have determined
    for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself.

I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place.

I can’t tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend."

    (Author Unknown)

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times

See why I try to combine my faith with my political stand?

Aw, Cmon', Helen! This is the Snipet! :) ha!

In all seriousness, this was a question posed to my Democrat friends who are rejoicing at yet another Republican scandal. I figured, though, since the Democrat platform was for the gay agenda, and the leniency on pedofiles, that most of them would understand now that Mark had confessed and give him a pass. Think so?

Hi Jack, No one should be given a pass. Pedofiles are criminals; gays are not (at least not just for being gay). Don't you have a gay friends?

A little sarcasm there, Helen. Actually it was a reactional post about what I read on a lot of the liberal blogs and sites. I was being a little tongue-in-cheek when I mentioned that everything should be ok now that Foley has confessed to being gay. :) It was my challenge to the liberal blogs to be more..."understanding". (You know my silly sense of humor!).

    Hi Jack,
So you think you can play on both sides of the fence? Not so my brother. Although I do not consider myself a democrat or "liberal" in the true sense of the words, I find it a bit disconcerting that you can post your comment on your blog that your "liberal" or "democrat" fellow bloggers (some of my best friends are liberals) find great pleasure in another Republican scandal. It"s not a scandal, Jack. Clinton was a scandal. Foley may be bordering on a felonious assault on adolescents. Do you know the difference? I do not take great pleasure in this new chapter of DC's debauchery. I don't really give a rats ass about whether it's about Repubs or Demos . It's about our elected officials. It's about the people we elect, with our greatest trust, to do what's right, first for our country and its' ideals, and secondly for their constituency. It's not about politics, Jack. It's about common decency and righteousness, and not if you are a "liberal" or "neocon". In the last decade we have forgotten what it means to be American. We have been caught up in partisan politics. That's what the powers in contol want us to do, and like the lemmings in 1984, we have followed suit. Now we have the rest of the world trying to remind us what it truly means to be an American. The world is anxioulsy awaiting our re-emergence for what this country was established for.

    Hi WSC,

    Good to hear from you!

As you know the Snipet is all about making fun of the absurdities in the news. One of the points you mention, WSC is that it is not a political issue. Of course it is--the Democrats are predicting the demise of the Republican party--and most of the liberal sites I have visited are wagging their finger and saying that this is indicative of all Republicans. Because of the nature of my blog, I use it to point out these inconsistencies. Like you, WSC, I am neither Democrat or Republican--most of what I post, though, is about Democrats because they make themselves such easy targets. :)

Additionally, I keep my finger on the pulse of many issues in modern America--not so long ago the National Psychiatry Association removed pedophilia from the deviant sexual activity category--quite a while ago they had done that with homosexuality. I have several friends who are in psychology and psychiatry and most of them consider themselves "liberal". The greater majority of them ally themselves to the Democrat Party. A close personal friend of mine who is a psychologist, indicated that pedophilia is a natural sexual response, just like homosexuality, bestiality, etc.---something someone is born with--requiring study, not penalty. I figured that if anyone was going to try to "understand" Foley, it was going to be liberals and Democrats, but I guess they are taking a raincheck this time because of their partisanship.

Still want to think that they aren't looking at this as political opportunity to take down the competition:

    Hi Jack,
thanks for your insight and yes, your blog is as you portray it. It's good for all of us that you can stay dedicated to making discourse available to all of us. Sometimes we may even learn something along the way.
The Demos response has been sad. The pure visciousness and callous behavior of all has become a cancer in DC. We can all point fingers at someone to blame, but no one has stepped to the forefront and shown the courage to put an end to such animosity. It has become a pure power struggle, and I do not see much good here, even if the Demos regain "power."

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".

Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.

Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.

In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
