INTERESTING ARTICLE (Abortion debate)

Pro-life answers to pro-choice questions - abortion arguments, pro-life v abortion, facts on abortion: "The abortion lobby has always realized that abortion itself is indefensible. This has forced them to argue that whether abortion is the deliberate killing of a living human being or not, is unrelated to the question of whether it should be legal. In short, they have to divert attention toward the philosophical concepts of choice and who decides because they cant afford for the public to look at whats being chosen and decided. "

I had written a small book in response to this but it disappeared into cyberspace. I'll sum up:

It all comes down the myriad justifications we make when doing anything in society, and the infinite lines we draw for ourselves and others.

To me, if abortion is indefensible, so is capital punishment, war, euthanasia, suicide, etc. Of course in these cases it is usually argued that those being killed aren't "innocent" the way a fetus is, but I say "innocence" is up to interpretation. What if an innocent man or woman is accidentally put to death for a crime he or she didn't commit? What of civilian casualties in war? Should parents of suicide victims be held responsible if there's evidence of abuse, etc? Who should have decided Terri Schiavo's fate? Most can agree it shouldn't be the government, but government certainly decides the fate of innocents when it meddles in foreign affairs.

Terri's husband was convinced she would never want to live in the state she was in. Her parents were convinced she would. She couldn't speak for herself, so her husband ultimately spoke for her. She didn't have a say because it was physically impossible. Fetuses live inside a host woman who can articulate her wants to others. Fetuses live without such a voice and can never have one. Therefore the mother's wishes will always trump theirs, regardless of its perceived morality.

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".

Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.

Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.

In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
