Thomas Sowell: 'Cruel and unusual'
Wednesday, March 23, 2005
Today I made a comment on Hen Whisperer's blog. I said that we have demonstrated how barbaric a nation we are by allowing Terri to die of starvation. We don't even let criminals do that. Thomas Sowell agrees: Thomas Sowell: 'Cruel and unusual'

I read this yesterday and wrote to this guy. How on earth can someone with no brain activity suffer? Not a single person that refutes that Terri is brain dead uses an electroencephalogram to back this claim.

The whole thing is making me very sick. I mean, why in the world can't they just stop and put the tube back in then do the tests to find out the incontrovertible truth of her state of awareness? What in God's name is wrong with Mr. Shiavo? He must be one of the cruelest persons on the face of this earth. It is my hope that he has spent every last penny of the malpractice lawsuit award on lawyers fees.

As I said before, this should never have gotten into the public arena. But it is there now and for Michael Shiavo to stick to his position, I don't know what to make of his character.

    Hen, whose feathers are riled.

Yeah OK Hen, and what happened during the 7 years in court that have now ruled 20 times in Schiavo's favor? Perhaps the cruelty lies more in our reluctance to enact assisted suicide laws, the misguided interference of politicians and special interest groups, or the parents who just don't want to let go.

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".

Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.

Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.

In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
