DIGNITY OF LIFE
Sunday, February 13, 2005
Here is an encouraging story about a brain damaged woman who speaks for the first time after 20 years. This is what the dignity of human life and its struggle are all about. Too bad there are those rabid animals who would still want to slit Terry Schiavo’s throat and watch her bleed. Ofttimes the test of courage becomes rather to live than to die. Hey, we see but in part...

all decisions when it comes to these sorts of things are fallible and there are opportunity costs to keeping people on life-support in terms of saving lives.

I'm just saying there is a need to show more compassion to our opponents on these difficult matters.

Hope you can come back and visit the Anti-Manicheist.

I understand what you're saying DLW, but I am a big proponent of self-determination. I don't believe I have a right to make a decision concerning another individual's life...

What if that individual wants their life to end?

I'm a big proponent of the song, "Lean on Me".

    Hi DLW,

Then that is THIER choice. Terri isn't being given one--because she currently can't speak--kinda like an unborn child...

"Snipet" (pronounced: snipe - it) is not a word.It is a derivative of two words: "Snipe" and "Snippet".

Miriam Webster defines Snipe as: to aim a carping or snide attack, or: to shoot at exposed individuals (as of an enemy's forces) from a usually concealed point of vantage.

Miriam Webster defines Snippet as: : a small part, piece, or thing; especially : a brief quotable passage.

In short, "Snipets" are brief, snide shots at exposed situations from a concealed vantage point.
